Striped Bass Fishing

Sunday, July 26, 2009

Striped bass fishing is a style of fishing that has been around for many ages. It is similar to normal bass fishing because it provides the excitement and entertainment of catching bass. Anyone who has been bass fishing before knows what I am talking about here.

Striped bass are a different species of bass. You can tell the difference mostly by what their name suggests, striped bass have many spots and lines on them.

In order to increase your chances of catching a striped bass you will need to know a few tips. These tips that I am going to show you are fairly easy to do. All you need to do is take them into consideration and implement them the next time you go bass fishing.

Fishing is something that you can only get better at with time, experience and practice. So do not get discouraged if you have a bad fishing trip. You cannot catch your limit every time you go out on the lake.

Here are a few tips in regards to fishing for striped bass.

Location

Striped bass can be found in many locations around the world. In terms of water, they can be found in both fresh water and salt water. It all really depends on what time of the year you happen to be fishing for them at.

In the summer and fall months Striped Bass are said to migrate to salt waters. During the winter they are supposed to go to fresh water. I do not know the exact reason why they do this but this is the information that I have managed to gather and it seems to be true.

The most common geographic places to fish for these types of fish are in North America in Canada and the United States.

The best time to fish for striped bass is usually in the fall or early spring. You can fish for them all year round though if you want to, but they are usually traveling through the river system at this time. This makes them a little bit harder to locate and track down.

Lures and Tackle

The most common type of lure that most fishermen use is artificial tackle. It has been proven that the majority of striped bass respond well to the artificial lures as well as live bait. Live bait generally works the best in more cases but for this style of fishing artificial bait works just as well.
A common type of lure that you can try out is spinner baits. They are said to bring in the big lunkers that you always see on TV. I have used spinner baits for lots of regular bass fishing and they seem to work the best in most cases as well.

Remember, the best thing to do with lure selection is to experiment. There is no lure that works best all the time but if you have some knowledge in lure selection you can narrow down the process.

In order to find out what type of lure is going to work best for your fishing trip, you are going to need to experiment to see what will work best for you.
Striped Bass Fishing Techniques and Tips

The last thing that I am going to talk about in regards to bass fishing is some simple techniques and tips. These tips will not always work but they are something that you can try.

Striped bass love to sit in the moving current and wait for their food to come to them. If you are in a fishing location where there is an outgoing tide, then live bait may be your best choice. This is because the bait will look much more real and lively. Fish will have a hard time resisting something like that.

The best time to fish for striped bass is generally at night or in the early hours of the morning. They love to feed at this time and you will get best results at these times. They do not generally feed during the day so avoid this if you possibly can.

This does not mean that you will not catch any during the day but you will have better chances at night or in the morning.

Striped bass are fun to fish for and if you have never been bass fishing at all then you are really missing out. Bass fishing is one of the popular fishing styles out there because they are exciting to reel in.

Try these tips out the next time you go fishing and you may increase your chances of catching your limit just a little bit more. If you have any questions about bass fishing or just any style of fishing in general do not be afraid to leave a comment or send me an e-mail.

I hope the next time you go fishing you have a fun trip!
